Apple Launching Offline Maps This Fall

Apple is gearing up to make it a whole lot easier for travelers to access maps without using their data.
According to Thrillist, the upcoming iOS 17, which is slated to be released to the public this fall, will include a new offline maps feature.
iPhone users will be able to download maps of specific areas on their phones so they can access them without using data, or WiFi – a huge bonus if traveling overseas or in remote off-grid areas.
Thrillist reports the offline map will still offer turn-by-turn navigation, find places, and estimate time of arrival.
“Maps adds offline maps, so users can download a specific area and access turn-by-turn navigation, see their estimated time of arrival, find places in Maps, and more while offline,” Apple shared in a press release. “Maps also makes it easier than ever to discover thousands of trails in parks across the United States, and supports electric vehicle drivers with real-time charging availability information.”
